So many people say that during the months of Oct-Jan (depending on where you live and what he hunts), that a wife of a hunter is also a widow. While I certainly notice my husband's absence, we are all noticing his presence as well. By this I mean that camo clothing is in almost every room of the house. My laundry room now smells of .... DIRT. Not one of my favorite smells (please no dirt candles for Christmas)! The TV is often turned to any hunting channel that has a program involving animals.... and we often channel surf between them. I have been told not to hug or kiss him good-bye, it might startle the deer. I also find that when the light is gone from the trees, I keep my phone close, waiting to see if he is coming home alone or not. I will have the camera and kids ready if he has a hairy and tongue-hanging friend with him!
